Mackenzie was born on November 16, 2005, via c-section.
The doctors knew there was a problem immediately, and by the time I was
out of recovery they diagnosed her with Apert syndrome. we were
shocked, but I was so happy she was here. Mackenzie has done amazing
so far. At birth, she was feeding and breathing on her own.
She never spent any time in the NICU and was released after only three
days. Mackenzie weighed an amazing 9 lb 5 oz. and was 22 1/2 inches
long. Her first head surgery is March 7 2006 at Vanderbilt
Children's Hospital. So far we have discovered that Mackenzie has a
duplicate kidney, fluid on one kidney, a heart murmur, constant watering
of the eyes, slight sleep apnea and ingrown nail problems, along with the
usual syndactyly and craniosynostosis. We will keep you posted.
Thanks so much,
