Lizzy's Page

Hi & Welcome to my Page,

I was born Elizabeth Ann Saylan on November 16,1968 in Queens,New York. I like my given name, however I grew up either being called Liz or Lizzy. So feel free to call me Liz or Lizzy which ever you prefer. I was born with Apert Syndrome, I have 3 fingers and a thumb on each hand, my toes are webbed. I have two older sisters Lisa & Linda and my mom Felicia.

My parent’s divorced when I was about 5 years old, leaving my mom to single-handedly raise me and my older sisters. From the beginning my mother always instilled in me that I was normal. Looking back to when I was little,I can’t remember ever asking my mom why I looked different. That may be because it was never stressed or made a big deal about. I knew I was born with Apert Syndrome, I just can’t remember asking questions about it. All I knew growing up was that to my mom I was a beautiful little girl, that seemed to be the only thing that mattered to me.

Over my lifetime I’ve had numerous surgeries, overcome many obstacles along the way, but I couldn’t have gotten through without the love and support of my family. I am a high school graduate who has been in the working environment for over 20 years doing different jobs, Currently I am a cashier in a local grocery store, and have been with the same company for 9 years now.

Upon finding Teeter’s Page in October 1998,  I soon realized what my purpose in life was.  Because I always dreamed of being a source of encouragement, and give hope to both Parents of children and other adults with Apert Syndrome. I am happy to be amongst so many wonderful people who are apart of our ever growing listserv/family.

Last but not least I want to say thank you to Don, Cat & Teeter for bringing me together with my extended listserv family.

Love, Lizzy
